i pulled the top end of my motor last night to prep for the 416

the cam and valve cover are immaculate

when i pulled the head off there seemed to be alot of carbon on the head and on top of the piston. there was a liitle blow by the exhaust side but not past the second ring. the skirst looked like new all the way around. the top of the piston was carbony too.

my motor smoked a little at start up and if i revved at idle after climbing hills. nothing major, barley even noticable. i am gonna put on new valve seals before i put it back together. the cylinder still has the cross hatching.

the motor has about 40 hours on it total.

any suggestions or is this normal? wasnt reall bad but thought it would be cleaner. would bad valve cause this?

i am gonna take it to my buddy to check out at his shop

still undecided on a cam

my 400 had carbon build up when i took it apart for a 416..it's not hurting anything so...it just needs jetted right to reduce carbon build up

running it a lil rich is actually good.
Better to be rich than lean
