I found it interesting, someone taking ideas from other sports and applying them to motocross. With all of the neck and spinal injuries lately i think this is a good idea.

Very cool find...this is the type of thing I expect the ATV magazines to find...but once again it an ATVriders member.

I was looking at a back protector that is made for skiing. I will try to find it and post. It is supposed to stop your back from hyperextending.

Here it is. It doesn't make the same claims as the other article I read about it. They have a full jacket version and just the back body armor for people who already wear a chest protector. It has extra stap on components for protecting upper and lower areas of spine.

yeah cause $30 is soooo expensive. especially when we are talking about our mobility/life.

josh, how much did your firefighter equiptment cost???

neck brace is a good idea. does your neck get hot at all when you are riding?

My son also has the full jacket from http://www.rockgardn.com/items/body-armor/junior-flak-jacket-jr-flak-jacket-detail.htm?1=1 which has the full back protector.

There was another thread a short while back that started talking about the Leatt neck brace.

Here's the link: http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=283759

Some good reading there.

I plan on getting one. I always ride full gear anyway. Try to live by example. None of my friends used to EVER wear helmets. Now almost all of them do. ;) Someone has to be "uncool" first before it can become accepted.. then uncool not too wear one. ;)

$400-$500 may seem like a lot. But, remember 1 trip to the emergency room just to make sure nothing is broken, severly damaged will cost you $750-$2000. :eek2:

Years ago when I had seperated my shoulder I was out of town in BFE. Had to go to the county hospital on a sunday. 2-xrays and 1 painkiller shot, and a sorry we cant help you see your doc on monday cost me $785.00 :huh

Looks somewhat similar to a Hans device used in Nascar.

yep. I am one of the first to be "uncool" padding my rear grab bar. After you've had your quad come over on you...you start to think about these things.

Except it keeps you from crushing your neck instead of keeping your head from snapping off.

There's a big write up in RacerX this month about it. David Bailey made a video about it calling out the top MX/SX guys to start wearing them. Here's a link to the video, its half way down the page-A message from David Bailey

I wasn't trying to start a argument I was just showing they where very expensive. Makes me mad that safety gear has to be so expensive. Its like they know ppl want to be safe and will buy the best stuff so lets jack the price way up....anyways.....

My fire gear was free. My fire Dept pays for it. It was prally over $1,000 not sure. If I had to pay for my own fire gear I would not be a fire fighter right now. I wasn't saying $30 was expensive. I liked it and I bought it.

WTF do you mean does my neck get hot when riding?:huh

I would love to have one of those. $500 - $700 is expensive. If I had the extra money laying around I would buy one. But I don't. I do race I race a ute which would be more reason to get one.

I just think saftey gear should be less expensive.

BTW when are you buying yourS?
