I got invited to do some flat track races as part of this monster truck show this weekend. I'm a motocross guy, not flattrack. Any tricks for setting up my 450r? I just ordered new Mxr6's, so if they are here, I will be using those. Otherwise I will be riding with some 18 inch Kenda Klaw rears. I dont really want to spend any money on this, but what should I do? About what tire pressure would you reccomend? Here is the quad.

I wouldnt use the new mxr6's for the flattrack, If you have your stock tires use those, they are a little high for flat track I think but better than ruining new tires.

Its either run my new mxr6's on my 9 inch hipers, or run klaws on 8 inch rims. I dont have any stock tires.

2 pounds? Wouldnt it be better to run a higher air pressure to get my tires to slide more?

i've got a rear lowering link for sale in the Honda section. that would help a ton. if the track is loose then you'd want to run lower air pressure. try 5-6lbs.

Patrick- Thanks for the offer, but I probably wont be doing any more flat track races after this. Ill stick with my motocross haha. I'll probably start at my normal 5.5 psi, and if its slick, drop it down.

Josh- Do you know anybody that is doing it? I only know of 4 of the guys.

Kawabunga- thanks, Im still working on getting it a little more personalized. Maybe get some new plastic at the end of the summer.

Do you guys suggest adjusting my shocks and lowering it? It just has a stock rebuild rear.

I know a ton of ppl that want to do it. I wanted to do it every year lol. if you can pm me a number or something I am sure I could get 5 or 6 more ppl to go. Its just we all have a race this weekend So I dunno. Will they allow muddy quad out there? We could just load up after the GP race and head to Fort Wayne lol:huh

I heard spraying bleach on your tires makes them softer.

honda4life72

It was lots of fun, but way different than what I thought it was going to be. There wasnt any dirt at all. They ran us on the concrete, and put down this syrup type stuff to get traction. I had a good time though. Im going back tomorrow for 2 more shows.

It was lots of fun. I think I signed autographs for 45 minutes earlier. I got third this morning in the dash for cash (main) but didnt qaulify for it for the night show. A kid spun out, hit me, and sent me into the wall. I ran my kendas with 4.5 psi, and lowered the ride height about an inch.

This was at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne. I think the next races I will be doing are on April 21-22 at the Motoplex in Laotto, IN. There is a possibility of me doing a race at Sweet 16 mx next weekend which is located right next to the Fort Wayne International airport.

I didn't end up racing at the colosiuem. I ended up playing in the mud at Hang time Mx park. It was a mess. but I ended up 2nd.

Haha, you are going to have to wait for next year to do it. The guy in charge was talking about how he was going to have some guys come, but they were going to go race the gp instead, I figured he was talking about you and your friends.

i did the same thing, ran my mx quad at a monster truck show tt in colorado, THE BEST THING TO DO would be for you to take a ratchet strap, completely compress your front suspension, put one end of the strap on your a-arm, wrap it through the shock tower and put the other on the other a-arm, it will give you alot better cornering, trust me, i ran one night without doing this and was all over the track, when i put a strap on there i could whip through the corners like nothin. it was funny i did this to my quad for the first heat, i was the only one, and by the main there was about 15 quads with strapped front ends, haha

I wish I would have known that about 4 days ago. haha

Honestly, I was pretty scared when I walked in and saw the track for the first time. It was just a small oval with this syrup put down on the concrete. On one side was a row of concrete barriers, on one end was a few concrete barriers on their side, and another side had a motocross ramp next to it. So basically, if you went out of control, you were screwed. There ended up not being any injuries for the weekend though. The 6th guy to ever flip a quad to dirt was there for the freestyle show. He owns a big freestyle complex, and was the guy that taught Caleb Moore to flip. He was a cool guy.

Thats awesome. My friend wrecked his banshee there a few years ago twice into the concrete barrier. First time was practice when no one was there and he ended up in the stands:p

i would not strap down the front end just lower it threw the shocks and make the rear really soft so u get good weight transfer.... trust me it will help more then straps
