After spending the weekend at the dunes and doing a lot of night riding I have come to the conlcussion that the stock headlights just don't cut it. Are there any headlight upgrades, or does anyone run any additional type of lights? What are my options?

i use fog lights from an autoparts store.

If your going to do aftermarket lights, make sure they dont draw too much to kill the stator

Here's mine. I picked up a pair from Auto Zone or Wal-Mart. They were like $30 I think. They are no Trail Tech lights, but they are way better than the stock ones. I'm running 35wx2 for stock, 55wx2 for the fog lights for a total of 180 watts. I've ran them for 6+ hours on a long night ride and my battery was strong so the stock stator should be able to hold them

I'm no expert but from what i've read running more watts than what the stator can output will eventually wear out the stator. Not sure about the timeline but stators aren't cheap.

I'd like to hear more info about stators and how much they can handle:)

I heard from someone on here that the stock puts out 185 or 180.

According to my repair manual stock stator puts out 147 watts.
