The coolant in my z is starting to get low, its below the low line. I went to my dealer and they didnt have any. So what kind should I get? Im thinking about just draining all of the old coolant out and just buying all new coolant. Could I just go to an auto store and buy regular motorcycle coolant? What do you guys prefer?

I'm surprised they didn't have any coolant at the Dealer but I wouldn't mix two diff coolants together. You can get Cycle Logic "Engine Ice" on Rockymtn. Which is what most people prefer to use. Make sure it's safe to use with the aluminium radiator. ;)

Drain your coolant and put engine ice in it. I love the stuff.

Listen to these two. I run the stuff and it really does keep the motor cooler.

Have you had the recall done on your clutch cover???

If yours is an 05' like your sig states and you've not had the cover recall done your coolant is going into the bottom-end of your motor and will cause MAJOR failure.:eek2:

if you are gonna use engine ice (which i do) make sure you flush out all the old coolant. i took mine off during my rebuild and washed it out with water and let it dry. drain the engine and hoses too. just make sure all the old is out.

maxima coolanol is also good to use, can be used without the cleaning out. just add and go.

It is for the clutch cover on 05' and 06' Z400s. They were magnesium and when in contact with water will corrode and chew away the cover till it allows water into the bottom-end of your motor. VERY serious problem that needs to be taken care of immediately!

Not sure if this has been remedied for the 07's or not.

maxima coolanol is ready to use. you can add it any time.

engine ice is a completely different kind of coolant it cannot be mixed with anything.

motul makes a coolant that is safe for either alum or magnesium.
i have heard RUMORS that some dealers cleaned the cover real good and used this coolant instead of changing to the upgrade. guess which one joe customer paid for. i'm not sure if this coolant can be mixed or if you have to drain and flush. if your coolant is very old a change wouldn't hurt
