I have just done some motor work and know when I get on it in second it will slip like you are pulling in on the clutch. But it will not do this in any other gear is it my clutch or is it the gear in the tranny. And if it is the clutch is thier any adjustment to fix it under the case on the right side.

It is likely that your problem is clutch-related, but ...

I don't know if you are experiencing the same problem, but I and several other people I ride/race with have lost 2nd gear on their 400's over the last couple of years. For me, it went fairly quickly - during a single race - but it had obviously been going bad for a while. Does it make any type of clicking sound when it's in 2nd? Before it dies it will usually click for a while as the teeth are ground off before it finally just locks up.

It does not make any noise when it dies and it just started happening about 2 weeks ago all the sudden.

if it was the clutch it would do it in any gear i would think.
