i am assembling my bike this week and i notice the spring on the rear shock will touch the s/a on complete extention. when i put weight on it it has enough cleaence but not when its down. it barley touches my jb swing arm as well. i am very confused. i have everything assembled right. here are some picutres. let me know what you all think.

I have an '04 450r with a Houser swingarm and mine is the same way. I rotated the spring when fully extended to where it looks like it is not touching. I haven't noticed any power coat rubbing off yet so it must be barely clearing. I think it is the same with the stock swingarm. Another watchpoint is the airbox. My spring is fairly soft and I busted the airbox after a few XC races. Added the Houser lift kit and adding an Outerwears cover to replace the lid.

Do u need a linkage for that shock

The linkage is causing the problem. Aftermarket swingarms have diffent gussets than teh stock swingarm and can cause clearance issues

It's the same way on my 400ex. I was kind of worried about that too, but like the other guy said... no paint is rubbed off the spring, so it must just be really close.
