Yea not even close.

130dB is very very loud.

130dB is 10,000x more powerful than 90dB.

130dB is 100x more powerful than 110db

1000x more powerful than 100dB

now....

on an audible level 10x power = twice as loud.

So 100dB is 2x louder than 90db.

110db is 4x louder than 90db.

120db is 8x louder than 90db.

130db is 16x louder than 90db.

A TC shorty is probably about 107dB. That should be about right.

Almost twice as loud as what's going to be allowed for racing.

How loud is no muffler:confused:

Probably not much louder if any. You aren't getting the compression pulses that happen in the headpipe at the bend.. so you have less "pop" and more "racket".

What's louder.. blowing into a trumpet/pipe or blowing into your hand?

The reverberations get louder in the pipe, the silencer is what makes it quieter.

Well then how loud is a pipe with no packing:confused:

just for s and g's, what would happen if i ran a 400ex just header, no muffler, ive got the full curtis sparks exhuast and its already loud as crap, but what would the effects of striaght header be?? just like a car?? would it kill power or possibly warp valves?

Running the header on a 400ex won't warp valves & no it won't kill power as long as you are jetted for it. I rode my quad with just a header onetime when i was making me a custom shorty with a cobra exhaust and it ran just as good and sounded awesome. I only rode it for like 5 mins though. I won't run just straight pipe for no long peroid of time though.

I call BS......Sorry but you would have no back pressure.:blah:

I call BS on you. Once the exhaust gets to the core their is zero back pressure after that point because its streight threw design their for not reducing back pressure.

If the muffler has a mid pipe welded to it you would loose a little back presure because most mid pipes have a curve to them but you still have back presure because most back pressure is made in the header.

Your "backpressure" comes form the first bend.. so running a header without a silencer won't fry anything as log as you DO rejet appropriatly. It's called a straightpipe. Done all the time on harleys, drag racers, etc..

It's obnoxious though, and adds no real power.

Our silencers are just glasspacks anyway and the headers are tuned to have a silencer on them so your powercurve would be thrown off by removing the silencer (shorter exhaust system).

Now, running NO header WILL fry your valves. Not because of some lack of backpressure, but because of the introduction of oxygen to close to the combustion chamber. Aka extreme heat and softened/weakened metal. The lack of the acceleration of gasses in the headpipe will also kill your torque. ;)
