Hey guys, wondering if there’s anyone out there that can help me out on some vehicle ideas.

i'm a truck lover at heart....been saving up my money now to get an 99&up silvy1500 or a 02&up ram 1500 quad cab.....I was dead set on getting a pickup until very recently. i’m a 17 year old high schooler working 20hrs a week after school so money isn’t exactly abundant, especially with my 05 450r and 99 rodeo 4x4(daily driver) sittin in the garage.

With gas prices rising, and without a change in the trend in sight, it seems like me getting a truck might not be the smartest thing. However, just this past week I have had a very weird change of heart; I’m getting interested in something other than a pickup: VDUBB

The past few days, all I’ve been doing is looking at euro tuner jettas, gti's, gli's, etc. I think I am falling in love with the new style jetta coupe 1.8t manual trans. the jetta has been the only car I can think of that I have always liked, and now I’m thinking that I would love one. There are a few modded ones around and I just love em. I’ve never driven a manual but I’m sure I could get used to it in a day or two, I do ride quads for my hobby...I think the whole shifting thing would be pretty fun, aside from the occasional annoying times in traffic and it would keep my constantly focused. I think slowly modding a car would be very fun, and I can already think of some ideas that would be hot (black wheels, exhaust, tints, system, etc). If I can, I would love to try and keep my rodeo to tow the occasional small trailer, go off-road, or use for family trips (still runs fine) and then use the car for college commuting and all around driving. oh yea im 6'1 155, will i fit good?

The main question here is: does anyone on here rock a vdubb, mainly the 1.8t and would you recommend it. What kind of gas mileage you get, what kind of mods have you done, do you like the car, basically ANYthing about these cars I would love to know about since I’m a n00b.

I hate to give you guys my whole life story like that, but I think it helps set the stage lol.

im still not sure, it feels weird thinking about driving a little car but i would still like to hear what you think.

Let me know what you guys think,
Thanks alot~

current whip-very happy with it for being my first car, tows my little 6x10 trailor and is better than ALOT of kids cars in the school lot.....the new car would be a year or two from now at the least. like i said, if i could keep this as a "family car" thatd be great.

i have a 01 jetta gls. its a 2.0 auto, not really diggin the tranny, but i like the rest of the car. i've heard alot of tranny problems on vw's. i get alot of inconsistant and weird shifting with mine. i've found a lot of people who've had the same problem and can't seem to fix it for some reason. i've had mine for 6 months now and havent had any real big problems yet beside the tranny shifting weird.

check out www.myvwlemon.com. its a vw forum and any problems people had you'll find on there.

and there pretty expensive to fix, just keep that in mind.:ermm:

ah yes the very sweet vdub, they are in my opinion one of the best car companys out there.

i drive a 1.8 wolfsberg, nothin special about the woffie badging just a different interior and of course the bbs 16's.

if i were u id try to find a manual 1.8t good on gas, and yes deceptively fast. get a 2002 or newer if ya can because they come with the 180 hp engine, and the 99.5- 2001.5's have the 150 hp engine.

as posted earlier www.vwvortex.com is a eurotuner's heaven everything you could possibly want to know about any year vw be it golf/rabbit/jetta/ passat/ corrado/ scirrocco, its on there

take a look at the jetta mkIV section and decide wheather you want a vr6, tdi, 1.8t or a 2.slow.

if ya got ne questions let me know also check out www.dubsinthebuff.com, your local buffalo vw clan.

also MOFO- a moderator knows a thing or two about em.

What is this n75 valve you speak of? Thoughts on your chip?

the N75 "H" valve that i have is a race valve for vaccume lines.. because of the turbo making more "suck" then stock because of the chip i needed a better valve to regulate it...

as for the chip.. best money i spent.. a lot more power really wakes it up
