That mystery piece is the needle valve,

4 shizzle

It connects to the floats. It shuts off the fuel to the float bowl from the fuel line.

The round part of the float will face towards the top of the carbureator. Slide the pin holding the float in place out. When you have the float removed, flip it upside down and you'll see a little slot. Slide the round silver part of the needle valve into that slot. Slowly set the needle valve (black, pointy part goes into the hole). Then slide the pin that holds the float on in. Double check it before you reassemble to make sure the needle valve didn't slide out of the slot or anything. Hope I helped.. I'm usually useless here.

You guys have got to be kidding me. Instead of making a 2 page forum trying to figure out your mystery peice, you should have looked at a schematics of any carb out there and you could have figured it out. And for your knowledge, that little piece is used to cut off fuel supply to the carb when the fuel bowl is full, or if the quad flips over. Any more questions?

Don't you love the wise guys that don't know what they are talking about. Maybe he wanted a quick answer from people that know what they are talking about (thats not you).

Agreed, darius.

exrider23 - Glad I helped you. No other satisfaction in this world better than helping someone else. Although I may not be correct 100% of the time, I'm open to any or all corrections. Someone had to tell me, so why not share the wealth. I hope you get your quad running!
