HI, I have a few questions for everyone who owns a steering stabilizer. What is the purpose of a steering stabilizer? Is there a difference between a steering stabilizer and a dampner? Will they work properly on stock suspension like on a trx450r or would you have to have aftermarket suspension for it to really make a difference? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

dont know much but i think they both r the same and theystabilize/dampen the front end when u clip a tree/stump/rock and it jerks the tires and also go foraftermarket suspension b4that

me and all my buddies have stick dampners/stabilizers, one of thme has a percison dampner. a dampner and stabilizer is the same thing different wording. i noticed a difference on my stick style for sure. bars dont jump around in rough woods or anything. the percision is nice on my buddies bike, but for 400 i wasnt in awe but it is much nicer than a stick simply because of the adjustibility it has. stock shocks, elkas, axis, any shock is fine for a dampner, you will notice a difference! if you get a stick style, dont go with the 3 click on, get a 7 click for sure. same price.

at first, i didn't like mine, i seemed to fight it, but once i got use to it, loved it, in the long run seemed to help me from getting tired as fast, and helped when i would get a little to close to the tress, help with the bars jamming your wrist.

oh,ok thanks for answering my question. Yeah, I ended up buying an SRP steering stick steering stabilizer with 7 adjustments. Now I just have to wait for it to come in and test it out. Thanks again.

Those SRP ones are not that good. I have a PEP and it is on it fourth race season. No problems yet!!! I ran a SRP for two GNCCs and it was junk, but I did get another because of warranty.

Are they that bad? I havent ridden mine much but seems like they would last a while. What is so bad about them that makes them junk?

dampners are a HUGE plus! I use stick style on my 2.
I rode for 2 years before I bought one. I was mad I didn't buy one the first day I bought my quad.

I didn't think mine helped too much at first until I had to race once without it....the bars felt so loose and jerky:eek2:

How hard is it to rebuild steering stabilizers?
