My brother Races and i play basketball and i love to be involved. If i wasn't any good at basketball i would be racing but i'm in college playing for free so i'm not going to take that chance. The only way i can seem to help my brother is by building tracks. I have two tracks right here at home and i just started one at my sisters house because her husband rides dirtbikes and he is looking to get back into racing. With the way this sport is taking off just showing up every weekend without practicing somewhere between races just isn't going to cut it anymore. You have to stay in shap and know everything about your bike and the only way to really do so, is to ride on a track and what better track than one out in your back yard or a couple miles away.So i was wondering if anyone would like for me to build a track for them. No it's not giong to be free but if you are wanting to win i think it might be a great investment. I will be using a Cat D4 Dozer to build all the jumps. I would love to do this so if you think you might be interested please e-mail me or get ahold of me on here either way will work. my e-mail is lucassmith@huntington.edu

Takes Practice to Be a Champion!!!!!!!!!

You should show some previous work you have done to show people what you can do! Just some friendly advice!

Here are some pics of my brother riding on my track, this track is a couple years old and it is weedy. If this track were not all sand and muck it would truely be a very very nice track to practice on and have fun. I have had lots of compliments on it and the jumps. Get big air and still get the smaller more technical stuff too.

I havn't gone to any of the games, but my parents do. Both of them graduated from there, and my dad is currently the Chairman of the board at Huntington.

I will say that a D4 is just about right for building small practice tracks though!!! I'm sure he does a nice job.

If he's willing to do it for a reasonable fee, it's def. worth it. Can't expect it for free though, fuel prices are outrageous, and his time is def. worth something.

What type of price are you charging?

A package fee? $xxx per track with 1 triple, 2 doubles, 2 tabletops and a whoops section?

Hourly? $50 would be the very minimum I would think???

More details are needed if you want anyone to take your proposition seriously. I'm not saying that your not serious, but I'd get some pictures of your work up, and throw out some $ figures.

P.S. If you build it, they will come. Be prepared to handle a bunch of people wanting to use your track once it's up (including unwanted people). You've got to cover your own ***** because of how lawsuit happy everyone is these days. Better pick/choose who you let ride on it-only those you trust.

I dont have the land for a track at my house, otherwise I would. We only have an acre.

My parents are Ed and Kaylene Souers. I figured it out because you said you play basketball, and your email adress says @huntington.edu

Thanks for all the advice and i am very serious about this and i would charge a rate of $75 and hour. This is a wide track Dozer and it does a really good job. My dream is to open my own track someday, but like you said the risk of doing so with lawsuits and all are very high. Thats why i would build a practice track for people. If you want i make some good drawings of layouts or you could give me the idea. I am at school right now and i dont have pictures on this computer of my brother riding on my tracks, but when i get home i will be getting that done though.

How exactly do you get pics on here? I can't figure it out. I really think with the way this sport is taking off and how the riders are improving so much a track to have at your own disposal is vital if your serious about racing.

Once again i will try to get some pics and thanks for the advice.

Alright so it is obvious that i can not get pictures on here. So i made a Myspace page that shows just a couple of pictures of my first track. the URL link is http://www.myspace.com/smittymx23

I will be placing more pictures on here of my brother riding on this track and a couple others that i have built. It is just the matter of time that i can go out and take some pics at these tracks once it warms up. i do have a few that i will post tomorrow sometime.

Thanks for the compliments on the track, i know that the pictures aren't the greatest and you can't really tell what is what. But i just built a huge 90ft. downhill triple on this track i have been working on for my brother-in law. I can't wait to get these pictures up for you guys, but i dont think i will be able to untill next weekend. I'm at school all week so i can't take any pics. I'm working on getting a video of the tracks also. just like one lap of my brother riding on them. Should take a couple weeks yet though cause my brother will be in Georgia for the next couple of weeks. so it is all a work in progress and i just want to say thanks for your patience. Once again you can check the track out at http://www.myspace.com/smittymx23

I own an excavating company in VA. In all of my years of excavating I have built several tracks. However, only one that was a paying job. Don't get your hopes up.

I suggest you make up a small flyer with pictures of your work and ask your local bike shops to hang it on their bulletin board.

Be careful if you want to get paid. Write up a small contract between you and the property owner before starting. Having insurance is a good idea too. Working without it may be illegal. Check your local contracting laws. Good luck.
