Can some explain to me why there is a difference between the adjustment measurments of the rockers that are being adjusted for both the exhaust and intake valves.

the intake valves are colled by the intake charge and do not expand as much, the exhaust are always hot and expand more

also the intakes are larger because it is harder to get fuel in then burnt fuel out

Thanks for the replies. I understand the reason for the gap setting of the rockers is so the valves can completly seat after opening, I just didn't know why the gaps adjustments were different for the intake and exhaust. If it is because the exhaust side expands more then how come on some other bikes the gaps are the same for both. Thanks for the help.

Honda cars are the same way. The exhaust side is hotter so it needs more clearance than does the intake side.

different engines are designed for different set ups. the cam you choose may also change the valve lash .
