Over the past season I tried racing with and without the headlights. My battery will slowly drain down without the headlights installed and turned on high. Are there any ill effects of taping over the headlights, in and effort to prevent them from getting broke? Will the surface get too hot and cause the adhesive to stick to the surface?

If your yfz is an 05 or older you could take them off and buy the resistor kit from yamaha. It basically makes your bike think the lights are on when they are not so it keeps charging at a higher rate.

I ride at night enough to leave the lights on the quad, peeling the tape off is much quicker than remounting the lights.

your best bet is to use clear packing tape, it's a recomendation in snow cross, it works awsome ,then u don't have to deal with old glue on the lens

depends on the actual bike, i got a 05yfz and just dont use the lights and it stays charged, plus i use a battery tender it covers it 24/7 at a slow 1.5 rate automatic.
i got a BRAND NEW RESISTOR KIT FOR SALE
