So my 416 is a couple years old now, I'm going to tear it apart and replace the rings. I just wanted to make sure but I need to get the cyl. honed so the new rings seat correctly right? Also i want to get the head cleaned up a little, I can't afford a port and polish. What does a "3-angle valve job" consist of? If I take the head to a local machine shop (who did the bore 2 yrs ago) will they be able to do the valve job or does it need to be done by someone with experience with a 400ex head?

If you have any other advice/suggestions to help freshen it up (that won't break my wallet) I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

You will need to measure the piston to cylinder clearance to make sure after it is honed that the clearance won't be to wide. A three angle valve job just means that you cut the valve seats at three angles and re cut the valve face to make it seal properly again. This is a good idea when rebuilding a motor.
