Hey, does anyone have any pictures of how they moved there rear shock mount for the long travel mod? I have seen the pic of bigbore81s, but cant get much out of it. Somewhere i read you move the mount up, somewhere i read you moved it forward. Anyone know? I was just going to get the shock and the look at it to figure it out, but if i move it up and it needs to go forward, or vice verca, i dont want to screwsomething up. Any more pics and info would be great, thanks for your help.

Theres others but they are kinda tight lipped about the specs, that way we cant just weld it up ourselves.

you are suppose to raise the rear shock mount one inch on the frame to use the long travel shock...... my friend at 00-buck racing does this mod.....

hes also a axis dealer..

thanks for the info beerock, so far most people ive talked to have said to move it up, but i read in an atv sport where they said they moved it forward, but they didnt show any good pics either...axis could probably sell alot more if they just told people where to move it, im not taking it to rocky ridge, either im doing it here, or its not getting done at all, thanks again beerock

Yes u have to move it up 1 inch . The tricky part is cutting the old one off! U have to be pretty precise with a cutting wheel. Ill snap some pics asap, i just have to wash it first. BUt i rode it for the first time at this weeks GNCC even though i only finished 1 1/2 lap (carb problems), and that thing is totally UNREAL!! Honest to god, i have never noticed that much of a differaance. Even when i went from stock to my first Axis shock. This one is 10Xs better!!

PS im an Axis dealer also

THANK YOU EXTREMERACER! YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!

but one thing im wondering, how do they get 2 inches more travel out of a one inch longer shock, or, am i totally missing something (very probable)

i was told the shocks 3 in. longer. so if it it's 3 in longer but 1 in. up them it should add 2 in of travel over a stock shock

What traver are you talking about?

Up travel, down travel or overall wheel travel?

The shock shaft travel is not going to be the same as the wheel travel. If the shock travel is increased say 1" then the wheel travel will be more due to the pivot point, and length of the swing arm etc.

And if the mounting location is 1" higher and the shock shaft travel is 2" longer then you would be gaining travel of both up and down of the wheel and it would be more than 2" but I dont know the exact amount for the Z since I dont know the actual leverage or formula etc.

I know I have seen someware on the web a table to use for diff length a-arms and swing arms etc but maybe one of the mech engineers out there could give us some help.

yeah..the up and down at the shock will differ from the rear wheels.. id say at the whell will be about +4 of the stock shock but i am not in the mood to do any actual figuring out tonight

THe actual Shock is only about 1 inch longer i believe. And the actual wheel travel is supposed to be 2 inches more. THe shaft travel is only an inch, due to the shick being an inch longer.
