i recently sent mi top to neil to do a bore and port job on it. the quad is now about 290. I will be useing it to mx track and desert type terrain race (long and straigth), and like fast trails in a desert terrain.

so for mx i have 18 inch tires, and i think its ok. But for the desert trails, i got kenda knarly in 22 inches.

my mechanic tells me that it will give my quad too much stress for beign big and heavy tires.

i know that it sound logical, but really is that much stress on the engine? any experience/advice on this dilema from any of you, please.

290???, you must have a 72mm sleave installed in the clyinder. stock is 246, 80 over is 263, 120-140 over is 270. 72mm is 293. I wouldn't listen too much to his advise about 22" tires. Yes, mx: 18" tires on 8" rims and woods: 20" or 22" rims on 8" or 9" rims. You gearing has a big part of that too. What is yours at??

i have stock gearing, and stock sprockets, well the sprockets are not stock but in stock size.

22" tires aren't too much "stress" you just have to gear it right

we run 22" 4-snows all the time and have no problems with high speed runs.

there is a tremendous difference between 4-snow and kenda knarly 22 inches tires. :blah:

Just learn how to work the clutch, hell, most 4 jokes these days and trikes used to come with 22 inchers.

You'll be fine, especially with that motor upgrade and you'll gain top end.

I race Harescrambles on my R and its still a 250. I ran 22 inch Holeshot XCT for a long time with no problem, i just droped the front sproket down to a 12. I run 20's now with stock gearing and its great. I still keep the 22's around for the real muddy (deep Rutted) races that we tend to have here Missouri

MossboysRacing, I live pretty close to you, in Waterloo IL, we should go ride together sometime, bring the 250r's back!
