Stupid carb question

Alright, Got a keihin pwk 38mm carb. thottle comes through the top. I did a rebuild on the quad and and when i was putting the carb top back on the thottle cable came un screwed from the top of the carb, So i just screwed it all the way back in and tightend the locknut back down. My question is, Is it supposed to be screwed in all the way or is it for thottle adjustment? Cause when i screwed it all the way back in it didnt feel like it made any difference when pushing the thumb throttle.

That helps control your freeplay in the cable. Loosen it up until you have throttle response and the correct freeplay needed for your preference and setup.
