1. Where does the 400ex redline? How high has someone reved?

2. Does anyone make a hood for a 2004 model? I want to get rid of my light and put a hood on my stock plastic.

stock redline is 9100PRM. people safely add 1000RPM, but i would not go much more than that.

yeah, feather makes a hood, some people use a 250R hood, and you might still be able to find a quad tech hood somewhere.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I like the 250 hood a little better although both are much better than stock. The 250 hood will work better because I have my machine built for drag racing and the head pipes are cherry red after about 5 min. of run time and the 250 hood should give me more air flow. Thanks alot. As for the ignition, I have a dyna FS programmable, and part of the programming aside from the timing curve is the rev limit. I just wasn't sure where I would be shut down. Thanks again.

A lot of how high you can safely rev depends on how your valvetrain is settup. If you're running a high lift cam with stock/old/weak or otherwise inappropriate valve springs and you start pushing the revs, the risk of floating a valve goes way up.
