View Full Version : 400 EX Hotcams setup jetting Question

I have a 400 EX with a FMF powercore 42 with a power bomb header, also with a K & N filter with the airbox modified. Two one inch holes are drilled in the airbox. When applying 1/4 to half throttle after a jump the engine sputters and i can't seem to get the RPMs up. The jetting is stock 146 with the pilot and needle in the stock position. Any ideas ?

yeah you def need to rejet..not sure what size...

stock main jets 148 first off. go to a 152 or 155 main. and a 42 pilot jet.

it could be raised a position but i think this is more of a pilot jet/air screw adjustment here.

Does it sputter when your not jumping??????


S.M.A416 stock main jets 148 first off I had thought that also but I have seen a few with the 146.

hmm..mine was 148 and that what i am used to seeing..maybe the higher elevations got lower size jets.

How many turns on the idle mixture screw with a 42 pilot and a 152 or 155 main. Also how about the needle ?

It depends on where your from , your elevation.

Our elevation is 2200 - 2400 ASL
