If you were going to keep modding, what would you do next? :D

Thanks Chevy!

Eventually, I'd like to powder coat the frame.

You have an eye for the details. I still have those graphics. I removed them in preparation for the new 416EX graphics I just ordered that go in thier place.

I know the 400's have a noisy valve train, but I can hear your valves ticking over the sound of the exhaust. I am sure they are in spec. you seem to know your stuff, just a notion. :)

I can assure you the valve lash gaps are spot on. The top end tick you hear is pretty typical for a 400EX and even more so with a Hotcam.

Yeah, I used to have a 400 and I remember the valves being noisy. I figured, knowing that you take good care of your stuff, had the valves set correctly. I also had an HMF on mine, they sound really good on the 400's.

my 400ex engine sounds identical to yours! good to know its not bad and I'm not the only one who knows that hot cams are loud.

When you did your head pipe mod, did you have to rejet? Did you notice any difference? thanks

I did the header mod at the same time as a lot of other mods. I did rejet and did feel a big difference and I imagine the header mod had a little to do with it.

I remember people that didnt realize hotcams ticked so loud when they would come up to my brother and say sounds like you need a valve adjustment... no its a cam thats why I just spanked you in a race haha. Different cam is such a good mod and gives so much HP. I think a cam might be the best gain for the money.

Here's the sticker installed on my quad. I think it looks good. They cost $25.00 for a pair.

I agree. Powder coating is the only thing left I'd like to do. It will have to wait for a while. I've spent too much money on this thing already.

My Son wants to go see his Grandmother weekend of the 19th/20th down in L.A.
We'll have to reschedule the Pismo trip. Let me know when you can go. Perhaps your Son can make it next time too.

Awsome ride ya got. I see alot of stuff i would do when i get my 450r. I like that powdercoated front Pro armor bumper, I mean the way the texture is, I would do that to the frame and subframe to!

Pappy powder coated the bumper Texture Black. Eventually, I would like to do the frame and sub frame the same color.

Here's some up to date picture taken today.

Not for a second. I'm a trail/XC rider. This quad is perfect for me. Perhaps, if I was a racer/big jumper I would have gotten a 450R.

KK, just thought since the 450R is the latest generation of the quads and such.

450R excels at motocross. 400EX is a trail quad and better suited my riding style. Plus it has reverse.

I bet that thing could take a 450r that was mildly upgraded if you're a good rider anyway.

A 416 does not compare to a 450, not close. In racing, it all boils down to rider skill. ;)

Yeah, so if hornetgod is a good rider I'm sure he could win a race with that bike.

I just bought my Son a new bike. It will be some time before I get the frame powder coated. I'm also not looking forward to the complete break down. It won't happen for a couple years yet.

I have no intentions of selling it. I have too much time and a lot of money invested to let it go.

Thanks for all the compliments.

He's pretty proud of it too. I told him if he did well in school this past year we might get him a bigger bike so he went out and earned all A's, B's, and perfect attendance. We surpised him the last week of the school year by giving him the YZ125. He dropped to his knees, teared up, and damn near cried when he saw it. It totally made my day to see how happy he was.

Bad News: He went out and broke his arm roller blading before he had even gotten to ride it. It will be atleast two months before he heals up enough to ride it.
