im in need of a new front sprocket so i figured i would use it to compensate for my 18 inch tires
what size should i go to reach around stock gearing? or a little higher than stock gearing

what year do you have? older style, go up to a 16 tooth sprocket. thats as close as you can get without touching the rear sprocket. new style, move up to a 15.. i think. dont quote me on that one. :macho

Stock 20's with 15/38 = 2.53
New 18's with 15/38 = 2.81
New 18's with 16/38 = 2.64
There's no way you're getting as tall unless you change the rear sprocket.
FYI 15/34 = 2.52 w/18's
I run a 15/35 = 2.59 w/18's and 2.33 w/20's

i run stock gearing on my 400 with 18s..try a 36 in the rear

since were talking sprockets, so if I have 22s on my 03 400ex with a 36 rear sprocket, I'm just killing the acceleration right?
