My brother just got his yesterday, so today we went riding a bit to see what it could do. He really wasnt able to do to much since he wanted to be very easy on it while he the broke motor in.

The KFX had a taller seat height which was very stiff, much harder than my yfz. It sat up taller than mine more like a 450R. I have a 05 yfz with suspension mods and therefore my quads ride height my be off from stock a bit. Steering felt really nice and the whole bike just felt really light. I think they got the geometry right on, and with some suspension mods this quad could be a good woods bike or MXer.

He did have a chance to try a 30 foot double and he loved it. He said the suspension soaks up the inpact better than his really old 2006 kfx400.

It did have some starting issues though, not sure what was going on with that. I seemed like it wasnt wanting to fire right up. And would require you to give it a bit of gas even though I dont think your suppose to.

Havnt had a chance to race a stright line yet, He adjusted his throttle so he wouldnt be able to give it more than half throttle. He raced a warrior and smoked it though even at half throttle. Hopefully we dont start hearing about problems with the frames or anything else like the suzuki 450 did. It looked like maybe the a-arms mounts may be a weak point these but that is just my opinion.

some more pics. Once he has his motor broken in he wants to go to the local riding spot. I get some pics with him it in action and maybe someone might want to drag race:D

awesome!!! May I ask why he screwed in the throttle to only go 1/2? IMO to break in a engine you need all RPMS.

Some people still live by the 1950's engine break in procedures. ;)

Most engines are honestly 90% broke in before you finish warming it up anyway.. so it really doesn't matter.

At idle after a 5min warmup your piston rings have already traveled over a mile.

Most are probably 1/2 broke in before it leaves the quality control station at the plant. ;)

Dang, I still haven't heard a ride review of anyone beating on it. Someone try to kill it already! My local dealer still doesn't even have one to look at...

It says in the manual for the break in period you can only ride it at 1/2 throttle for the first 10 hours. So I guess he's following the recommendation by kawasaki. As for me I pushed mine pretty hard yesterday. Everything went great.

Yeah he was going by what the manual said and what his dealer recommened. I told him that I thought 10 hours was a bit much. O well its his, not mine.

ehhh just run through the gears all the revs for about 30 mins then ride it how you would normally. let the rings settle with a few cooling periods and then change the oil and go riiiiip
