when its the least bit cool my 400 will die when it is first started.
even if i leave it at half choke for a little while it will die a couple of times before getting warmed up. once it gets warmed up it runs great. what can i do to take care of this starting problem?

will the 42 pilot jet also make it easier to start in warmer temps, i usually have to choke it even when it is warmer?

i recently added a 42 pilot and it seems like it is harder to start and it wont idle until it gets really really warm
when it finally get warm it runs fine but its hard to start and doesnt idle until completely warmed up why is this :(

Did you adjust your fuel screw after installing the 42K pilot jet? If you haven't than that's your problem.

Yes you do. All 2005 and Up 400EX Carbs have the "D" shaped fuel screw. You can call DynoJet directly and order the tool. The part number is DT-008. They are less than $10.00.
If you give me a list of your mods, altitude, and riding temperature, I should be able to give you an estimate with in a 1/4 to 1/2 turn of where your fuel screw should be.

Check your dealer first, I got one from my dealer for free. They come with the jet kits so my dealer had an abundance of them.

I've also heard that dealerships charge a rediculous amount of money for the tool as well. DynoJet charges $2.99 for the tool and around $7.00 to ship it. That's the best price you'll find unless you get lucky like AbnMP13 and they give you one free of charge.

Check this thread out. It has more info on the topic.
