Quick question...tie rods

It's been a while since I messed with my tie rods and I need to take them off to sell them to a friend. Do I have to unmount a tie rod end, say, at the spindle to get the tie rod out? Or can I just loosen the jam nuts at each end and get the tie rod out without unmounting a tie rod end?

I have to get a new tie rod in there when I put my new front end on, so will I save myself a headache by just taking the tie rod end off?

Loosen the jam nuts and thread them out. Make sure your wheels are off the groud. They should come right out.
