I have the IMS 4gal tank, having trouble with the turning stopping just a little before it should. It is a Burgard, I believe +1 as it came with the quad so I'm not 100%. I am using Pro-Tapers.

Has anyone figured out a way to get the stem to stop hitting the tank when turning?

Can you please post a pick of the tank.....we could probably help you out better that way.

I have a 1 + forward an 1 + higher and it clears the tank. I had to use stock handle bar clamps to so it would not hit. The teather cord I had to remount.

That's the newer style IMS tank and there's always problems with mounting and clearance. You'd be better off trying to find the older style IMS tank or go with a Clarke.

I'm going to try to dig up a pic. But it is actually the old style IMS. It is rounded in the front instead of indented. I had a newer style that cracked, so I bought this one from Tony Kellner(Barry Hawks old Mechanic). It came off of Tonys old bike. The petcock deff. mounts further back then the new style I first had.

I'm wondering if I may need to look into the +1 forward.

I have attached a link to some pics, I have a few others, nothing with a close view right now. Hopefully it can give some idea of my situation.

I think thats what it may come down to. My buddy works at a machine shop, so luckily I have access to different methods to fix my issue. I'm going to try shaving the clamp down a bit more. If that fails, it looks like I'll be buying a new stem. Thanks for the input!

scott spend $2 on a piece of flat stock and some longer bolts and shim behind the stem clamp I know I did it

Yep, the newer 4 gallon only works properly with a stock height or a +2 stem. I would suggest doing it right and selling your stem and picking up one of the above mentioned.

Your tank is the old style, the one posted by Louis is the new style. My stem hits my tank slightly, I just left it at that.
