It's A-T-V-S-C-E-N-E
someone said in the new atv insider-that tim farr signed a 1 year contract with ktm. sweet!
i talked to 'my' ktm dealership guy today, he said we wont see anything til MAYBE at the dealer show in august. i talked to a guy that sponsors tim farr, and he said we might see him riding/racing a prototype ktm by mid summer. but what i understand is ktm is suppose to release the '525' first, and then the 450. come on already!

The picture you saw was a Dirt Wheels Photoshop, that is not what the KTM will look like. At that time, KTM released test photos/footage, and the plastic they were running at the time was generic aftermarket 250r style plastic.
If you look at KTM styling, expect to see a more angular look to their bodywork. They use more straight edges and crisp lines with their motorcycles that should carry over to their atv's...should look pretty sweet if they follow the look of their concept drawings that came out the middle of last year. I'll see if I can dig them up.

And here is a MS Paint drawing I did...ignore the aluminum frame, this started as a KFX 450, so in all likeliehood it will be at best Chrome Moly or Mild Steel...lets hope for the moly frame.

sude that photoshop of the kfx with ktm style graphics looks sick. Hopefully it looks somewhat like that.

If that engine data is correct then the are using the old single cam engines from the 06-03 450 and 525 engines. I can tell by the amount of oil filters. The older engines have two oil screens that need to be cleaned each oil change and two filters. I had believed this is the route KTM would go. The old engines were very reliable, and made good, but not great power compared to the jap counterpart bikes. But the single overhead cam limited their ability to rev as far as the competitions dual overhead cam designs. With most quads not having to rev to 12000 rpm this engine would be perfect. Plus just as any manufacturer the longer you get out of a set of castings and molds the more profitable they are. Eventually I can see them going to the new engine design in a couple of years and use as a marketing point.
