I am pretty sure that the way it goes is if your are moving your hand forward that is tightning and if your pulling it back it loosens it. Hope I helped!!

its a real pain. you need 2 wrenches for each nut. the one closest to the bearing carrier clockwise and turn it a few times to make some room. after the bolt has moved up the threaded collar, start turning the outer nut clockwise to expose the circlip. if its never been busted you might have to put some heat on it first. good luck.

Since its reverse threads wouldnt you turn both of them counter clockwise to loosen it up????

its definately clockwise to loosen them both and it can be a pain to loosen heat and some penetrating oil helps

I suppose whether it should be turned clockwise or counterclockwise is relative to whether you are looking at it from the left or right of the quad. Maybe you were all right.:)

loosen the big one first and move it all the way over to the hub for the brake. then turn the smaller one the same way to back it away from the clip inside it. i think they go clockwise to loosen, this would be reverse from regular which is counterclockwise. heat and some pen oil should do the trick along with a big breaker bar. lol. steve

ok so clockwise would be pulling up..and i thought you had to move the little one to get to the big one..everyone tells you something different lol thanks dude

shift the whole assembly over to the left once the small one is as far left as possible and you can get the clip off easy. i just get a couple of small screw drivers and lift it up, the i work it around and get it all up on the axle and push it toward the right hub to get it on the smaller part o the axle. you should be set then. steve

DO you have a manual for your quad? If not you really need one.

THe directions are clearly outlined.

Standing at the back of the quad you push down to the floor to loosen it. You pull up to tighten.

When tightening, have someone sit on the quad with their foot on the rear brake, and give it heaps. And don't forget the locktite.

you can also help to stop it by having it in gear, but using the brake really helps to hold it tight. steve

spin them so they go towards the brake disc. this will reveal the c clip thats in a groove on the axle. take the clip out, then slide the entire locknut assembly off.

keep teh small one snug until you get the big one all the way left. then loosen the small one which will pull it onto the threads further. this should back it away from the clip and expose it. then you can get the cip out. steve
