Motorcycle Insurance?

How old do you have to be to get insurance? Im pretty sure its 18, but I was able to get a quote from Progressive for my motorcycle (im 17) so im hoping you dont have to be 18 because im trying to insure a bike that my parents wont.

I've offered to pay them monthly for it, but they prolly wont give in.

Progressive is aweful! They wanted 400.00 a month for my R1

I paid 67.00 a month at State Farm for full coverage

when i was thinking of gettin a bike i got a quote from gmac(who im with) it would only be 15 more a month to add it on

Ok, thanks alot guys. I got quoted at $150 a month for full coverage on a 2005 R6. Does anyone know if its possible to get summer coverage or possibly pay as you go? Anything along those lines.
