i have fmf powercore IV slip on no airbox lid the rest is stock like at 50-75 ft above sea level

i put in a 155k main and a 42k pilot

had a slight hesitation on start and would stall out some

i was messin with the air/fuel screw and i had it all the way in and the motor wouldnt even slow idle so i changed the pilot back to stock i have the air/fuel out 2.5 turns

it still has the hesitatin/bog right when you hit the throttle if you get it past that it revs fine

should i move the needle up a notch(fatten) or should i adjust the air fuel screw some more?

one other question. checked the dipstick today after riding and the reservoir is full as hell if i take the stick out i can shake the bike and you can see the oil

and the oil is a dark grey is that normal? should i drain and re fill it? and how thin does oil get when hot? i felt it and it was really thin feeling(right after riding and havin the engine full temp)

Not sure about your jetting but the gray oil dosn't sound good...

Put your clip up one on the needle.

Move the clip down one notch to 4, to richen it up.

I thought going up on the needle richens it up

Moving the needle up does richen it. But to move the needle up you move the clip down. Make sense?

Sounds like you're still running lean. The needle clip adjustment should be fine, as should the air/fuel. Have you experimented with the main jet anymore? At your elevation, you may need to go a little larger (~158). Just to make sure, you do have the stock pilot jet back in, right? There is no need to change that unless you have more engine mods (cam, piston, etc.).

For your elevation you should be able to run with a 40 pilot 2 1/2 out on the screw, a 152 and needle on the 3rd. If you have problems, buy a bunch of plugs and start doing plug chops. It's the best way to find proper jetting that I have found so far.

ok so one guy is telling me 158 and another is telling me 152? i didnt think the main jet had anything to do with the throttle right on take off

I gave you a 152 and the 40 as a start point you may end up going above a 158. Your needle sounds like it's set a little fat for your alt. and mods. I'm at 502 ft. and I'm running a 160main, needle on the 3rd, a 42 pilot and the screw at 2 1/2 from lightly seated. thats only if you want to do plug chops. If you don't you can stay withthe 40 and just work with your fuel screw. if you get more than 3 turns out of it to lose the bog you will probably need a 42 and start over with the adjustments. if you go to a 42 start at 2 1/4 turns out (stock) and work it out till you hit the sweet spot.

i had a 42k in there and if i bottomed out the screw it would still idle perfectly so i put stock back in and im about 2 turns out

That's good, next let it idle for about a minute then stab it see what happens. You might want to try a 40 if that is thin. If you don't have one I will mail you one free of charge. I was thinking about where you are and your elevation and I think you might be good with the 38. Just tune it through the pilot screw. if it bogs I think it could be you AP. Also if you want to perfect the rest of the jetting like I said you will want to do plug runs. GP has a how to on this site. I did it and it works. I own a bussiness and that is the best way I found.
