I hate the dgh needle in my 310. Put in CEJ and it seems much better. I had the CEL in it once and i might go back to that.

What was the issue? I'm not questioning your results; I'm just wondering if I could improve upon the DGK that I'm running.

This is in it now....does not sound right, though. Stock jug and fmf pipe.

Do these different needles make that much of a difference?

the pilot might be a hair heavy. The main's really close. Needles are always a debate. Try it out and see what it's needs are. Beerock likes the CEL's. I got the DGH reccommended from Mark Baldwin...and I like it ok. Someday, I'll give the CEL a try...just cause.

I would like to smooth it out some if possible, between 0 and 1/3 throttle. Would one of these needles be better than the other knowing this?

It seemed like it was too fat at a certain throttle range. The transition from bottom to mid didnt feel good. Put in CEL first and that was really nice, transitioned better and hits better. I tried a CEJ to see how it feels and I think I liked the CEL better. I might try a CGH or something like that, see how it does.

Sure you got your air screw adjusted to run right on your pilot?

How about the clip position?

Both of those settings have a big effect on how it runs from idle to 1/3.

I hope your 0.30 cylinder is ported and not stock. This would be way too much carb if it is a stock cylinder.

I was an idiot, and did not check this stuff(pilot) after I bought it and started riding (burnt piston 5 hours later). I assumed it was the nature of the beast (instant power band), rode only 4-pokes before.

The guy said it was a 310 kit, ported and polished. He is a liar from Granite City, IL., because it is not a 310 at all, so who knows if has been ported....I don't know what I'm looking at.

I do know the needle is in the middle position, but I am left to figure everything else out on my own, with your guy's help.

post pics of the internals of your jug if you want to know whether it is ported.

As for tuning-- this is a good guide-- at least a starting point... Written for bikes, but same applies to your R.

I'll post some as soon as I get home. Will it help if I measure the ports? If so, where should I measure?

I've got a 39 on my 87 motor. Its bone stock other then a modded reed cage and a pipe. It runs fine with it and much better then it ever would have with a stock PJ....
