stock is bad, you learn that very quickly.

my truck is modded, my quad is modded, as is my bike, and when i get a street bike i am sure it won't stay stock for long. gotta mod everything.

stock isnt always bad, stock= relieable...but alot of people mods snowmoblies, wave runners, and sports cars too...drag racing is basically all modded..

ride a clutched, piped and studded snowmoblie and youll never look back on quads again :D

Sledding is 10 times more fun then quading, depends.
I bet the sales of can beers go way up during sledding season.

I have ridden multiple ones, as well as raced sno cross, I will stay with quads forever, they are still more fun in my opinon.

modded is reliable as well if done right. everything i own is modded, and very reliable. some mods actually make things more reliable such as HD replacement for stock parts.


never been on a sled, but i will always stay with quads. granted i think a sled would be a blast, i just don't see them being near the fun of a quad.

if i had to choose between my quad or my sled, i would pick my sled in a heart beat....

true some mods do make things more relieable, but some mods do make is less relieable, just depends on what was done i suppose

Quads do not come close in speed, Doug Gust could do a trail with straight aways in 30 seconds say, a average sledder could do it in 16 seconds/

Your statement is why my 96 Warrior has zero performance mods on it, yet has approximately 3000 hour on it and has only had the top end rebuilt one time. Yes, in most cases, stock is reliable, but as some others mentioned, when done correctly, certain modifictions, not only are better for performance, but also more reliable than the stock hardware.

Example, Ti valve springs, aftermarket connecting rods, pretty much any bolt on suspension/chassis part is stronger/better than stock, including shocks, a-arms, stems, axles, spindles, bars, etc...

I also think snowmobiles would be more popular if more than 5% of the continental US actually experienced enough snowfall throughout the year to justify the cost of owning one.

I live in Pennsylvania, where over the past 5 years, only twice has there been enough snow that has lasted long enough, to even think of busting out a snowmobile. Being able to ride an $8k machine twice in a five year span isn't very satisfying.

Yes they are much faster. Yes they are fun. NO, they shouldn't be getting 1000 times the amount of TV coverage as quads. If it weren't for quad riders, the factories wouldn't be able to afford the R&D for the new sleds or bikes for that matter. Quads are way overdue for getting the respect that they deserve.

ready 4 a good laugh? well my quad is modded and i agree stock sucks well anyway i modded my tractor! yes my tractor haha it sits on 31in good years and i made a custom exhaust and painted it haha. things a beast in the woods and is awesome in the mud! however needs a new belt and shifter spring

haha no i never owned a cannondale...yes some mods do make it more relieable, that is true...but if i had a warrior or blaster now, i would keep it stock

i live in an area where we can ride sleds about 3 months out of the year witch is more then most spots, and guys i love quads as much as the next man, but in the UP of MI their is so many sleds that youll see more sleds at the gas statio then a car, they treat snowmobliers with respect, you get deals on hotels if you ride a sled, the cops NEVER bother you either...imagine literally hundreds of miles of trails for you to ride your quad without any hassle at all...then imagine your quad being capable of 115+ mph and stock 140 HP :D

I do love quads but sleds is where it is at! i think everyone should go in the winter and atleast rent a sled...you can rent a 550 or 580 sleds and still hit 90-100 mph in the straights, witch sometimes can last over a mile long ;)

Yeah there is nothing like going 120 through a field on a sled... but around here (western NY) you can only ride for like 2-3 months a year. I've ridden my quad for over 10 months woth no problems. The only thing that stops me is more than a foot of snow. Now sleds are fun, but I cannot bring myself to invest in something that I'll be just looking at for 8+ months a year. If I lived up in Canada I'd prolly have one, but not here.
