I am getting ready to order my seat cover for my project from Jettrim and just wanted to know if there was any difference in seats between 86-89.

If so how do I know which one I have so I get the correct size cover?

It seems that I have seen two different styles of seats. One is thin and sits low, while the other is thicker and sits higher.

Is this possible or am I just imagining it.

Thanks,

Steve

its not your imagination, 86 seats have more foam in them. Post a picture of it, maybe we can tell you what one you have.

86-87 had about an inch shorter foam seat hight then 88-89 250R. All seat covers can be made to fit all year foams. I run the 86 foam on 89 seat pans for the lower hight.

You have 88-89 foam. By the way NICE R.

Heres a good way to see what year seat you have. Flip it over and check and see if the front things that go under the tabs on the frame to keep the seat on the bike. If they are bolted on and metal you have an old seat. If its molded into the plastic its the new seat.

Thanks all, The seat pan has the molded plastic to catch the front grommets so it is an 88-89 style seat.

Good way to tell
