I just bought a PEP ZPS rear shock that was supposed to be for a stock linkage rear end and turns out to be for a CR500 rear end. Can I use this setup with a stock framed R if I buy the CR500 linkage or should I just sell it and try to get another shock?

It is engraved on the side that it is a ZPS valved for 165LB Pro MX, both compression and rebound adjustable.

Any help would be appreciated, or if you want to buy it shoot me a offer that is REASONABLE.

that shock is about 3 inches longer than stock,i have cut upper brace out of a stock frame and raised upper mount,it can be done ,but need a leager frame to compare measurements off, will also need swinger and linkage for 500 link,is nice ride once converted but have to be semi decent fabber to do this

I'd sell it and try to get another shock
IF you can because not too many people can use the cr500 link shock.

The problem with trying to fab a mount to use it on a stock frame is that you need to have the CR500 link and swinger to know where to put it. It is offset to the right a little bit. Also it would be very hard to find a cr500 link swingarm because nobody makes them anymore - that I know of.

Contact matt250R21 he just did a fab to make a stock replacement laeger frame into a cr500 link frame.

Yeah, like 250Reny said, I just did a CR500 link conversion on a stock link Laegers frame. It really was not that bad to do, lots of measuring, cutting and sanding though. I had another Laegers CR500 link frame to work off of too. You will need to make a new upper shock mount and a new linkage mount. You will need a CR500 link swingarm and a 1991 CR500 linkage as well. Most important, you will need to find a good TIG welder and someone to fab the mounts. I made my own out of chromoly by copying the Laegers CR link frame parts. ITS ALOT HARDER THEN YOU THINK IT WILL BE TO MAKE THESE LITTLE PARTS RIGHT.

I would not waste my time converting a stock Honda frame over to a CR500 link. Better to start with something that is not 18 years old and made of mild steel. If anyone wants more info or pics of the switch let me know.

Thanks for all the replies and info. I am a welder as well as I teach welding at the local college so welding and fabing is not the problem, the stock frame is though.

I currently have a LSR frame (Duncan 370 PV) as well as a PRP frame (Duncan 275 PV) and both are a no link setup. I was going to setup the stock frame (ESR 310) for the wife with a more plush rear end.

SHOCK IS FOR SALE TO ANY TAKERS.

Thanks again,

Josh
