Aftermarket shocks with aftermarket A-arms

I am wondering why you need aftermarket shocks when you equip your wheeler with different A-arms. I am looking at getting some +2 A-arm in order to do some flat track racing. Sorry for the dumb question, just trying to learn!

Not a dumb question at all!

Standard travel you don't have to buy new shocks and you can get +1,2 and even three sizes over stock.

Long Travel- You have to buy new shocks at the same time, stock shocks will not work..
