hey guys, i have always run 14/37 gearing, but im just curious as how the stock gearing (stock sprockets) were on a 86. Does it pull well across the powerband?

i think its 13/38 .... it was alright.. but i droped down to 11/38 cause i hardly ever found myself in 6th gear ... so i geard it down cause i like to drag race people too.

13/39 is stock on both 86 and 87. This is the gearing I run on both my XC quads and I like it.

rich-- so you find that you have enough bottom end, and arent always shifting?

I had 12/38 on my stock 88 R and I found myself shifting a little too much, put on a 13 front and that made a worldly difference.

More than enough bottom, and it pulls nice through the mid and top, which helps since alot of XC tracks are running wide open field sections.

I've got a stock 88. What kind of riding are you doing? How about now with the 13? Are you in 6th alot?

I was getting into 6th a lot more frequently with the 12T than 13T. I feel a lot faster on the 13T though, even though I dont go into 6th too much. Just a personal preference I guess. I ride trails only.

i have tried all the sprockets from 12-15 with a 37 rear. From experience i say a 12/38 would be the perfect indoor/supercross gearing. For Motocross i would hafto say 13 is the perfect front with a 37 rear....with a 12/37 tho it accelerates like a raped ape
