i just finished putting on my hrc kit. i want to get some more sound and power out of my bike, so i am thinking of putting on a slip on. i have read through the forums about this, but haven't gotten an answer to my question yet. i want to know what slip on will work best with my hrc head pipe. i don't really like the sound of the hmf pipe, so i don't really want that one even though i'm sure 90% of the people on this forum have hmf. i was thinking maybe a lrd or yoshimura slip on or even an alba exhaust. i had a lrd for my 400ex and i liked it, but it was kind of quiet. does anyone have these slip ons and know how loud and how much power they give you?

i run a full ALBA on my 05 with hrc and my older brother runs a full LRD pro4R on his 05 w/ hrc. both provide good gains but the ALBA has more hp gains from mid to high range.. the alba will definetly give more power but its also a lot louder than the LRD so if noise is an issue... go with the LRD..

Do a search, the LRD pipes are junk. My buddy had one and he spent more time trying to fix the pipe than riding. The mid pipe ripped apart from the can several times, he finally had to put helicoils in it and stainless bolts for it to stay together, and the label loses its coloring after about 15 minutes of riding.

What dont you like about the HMF? What makes you think any other pipe is going to sound all that different?

HMF, Rossier, DASA, and Sparks are where it is at with quality and performance for the 450R period.....

I have hrc w/ rossier and I couldnt be happier, its everything I could have hoped for (great throttle response/tone/power low-mid-and up top)

thanks for all the replies guys. i really want to get the yoshimura slip on, but its like impossible to find anywhere on line for the 2006. as soon as the guys from white brothers emails me back and lets me know if their slip ons work with the hrc head pipe i will make my final decision. $250 for a white brothers slip on is awfully tempting....

i tried to install the hrc kit by myself about two nights before i went to the dunes and just about every bolt that could be stripped ended up getting stripped. i stripped every screw on my carb cover and the bolts for the cam chain tensioner. it sucked

damn that sucks I just had honda do it for about 100 bucks because I didnt want to mess with timing it. surely you like the added power though?

yah the added power with the hrc kit is pretty cool. i found a curtis sparks exhaust muffler for sale on ebay, but the seller wont tell me what year of bike the muffler is from and according to the guys from curtis sparks the muffler is different for the 04/05 and 06/07 so im not sure i want to take the risk of buying the muffler then it wont mount up correctly. im not sure the muffler will even fit the hrc head pipe either so i might stear away from it.

that pipe is going to be extremely loud and its un tuneable...its a straight mx pipe...if your going to do any trail ridding or any thing to that nature then ur gonna piss off more ppl then a lil bit
