so this guy i know is sellin a 250r that is bored .60 over, his bottom dollar is around 3400 it has many mods on it, the only thing is that its set up for mx and i dont really want to race that much and i do alot of trail riding and i think that a 250r wouldnt be to great on trails, and is something breaks then its hard to find something for them, but do you guys think a 250r is a good machine to have?

Ive had no trouble finding parts for it but sure I guess in 5 years it might be hard. As far as being a good trail bike I think its great. Mine is mostly stock and lugs my big *** around pretty good on the trails.

you need even ask!!!! :blah:

a 250R that is set up and geared properly is one of the best trail quads around.

i'm what you may consider a all-around power rider. my riding ranges from sand, creeks, trails(open and woods) and on occasion i'll line it up at the lights.

in 4 years i havent had any major troubles from it. i've had to replace the ussual wheel bearings of course but thats largely due to the fact that i keep it in the creek beds.

the only problem that i see you may have is the extended width for tight woods riding.

I grew up in Alaska and we only kept the 250r's. All of the other machines were junked. You have to remember, there are no paved roads there. Only in Fairbanks, Anchorage and a couple of small towns. All the rest of the Entire state (Which you can fit California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona inside) is made up of DIRT ROADS! Nothing was able to handle the abuse we put them through there. We use quads up in Alaska as cars. We get on them and drive to the store, movies, friends houses, and even pull right up into the gas station and fill-er-up. We tail ride, jump, commute, and even pull dog sleds with them. We also ride 365 days a year on our machines. I have been in California for the last 10 years and make enough money to buy any machine I want, and I went right back to the GOOD OLD FAITHFUL 250R. I just got another one a week ago. Do yourself a favor and buy one now.

well now the problem is that out here the trails are rough people are snotty when they see a quad many times. the thing is that i dont wanna buy a quad that will cost alot of money to repair and that would cost alot of money to buy new parts, thats y i was thinkin of gettin a 450. email me at quads12493@hotmail.com if you want a pics becuase the ones i got are too big to resize.

ask my friend about yfz's. He blew 2 motors on his 05 already. Got tired of it and bought another, and blew that engine already also. He trail rides and drag races. Now he is getting a built motor and i guarantee he already spent about $14,000 (including bike) in mods and such on the bike. No doubt its gonna be a bad bike but not worth that much money.

Go ride the 250r, then your face will be like  You'll LOVE it and want to ride nothing but it.

Then go ride a 450, and your face will be like.

Nothing rips like a 250r.

And its set up just for mx, all you'll have to change is bigger tires and narrow it up if you want. Its gotta already have killer shocks on it.

My buddy had a yfz and his r, well he sold his yfz, Prolly cuz it couldn't keep up!

i did for the most part. :D besides, since when does stating the obvious and speaking the truth amount to a 12 y/o mentality?

but, seriously quads14589. as stated the four stroke will give you more trouble than the two stroke in the long run. they just wont last under the same punishment that you put to a two stroke through. it's your choice.... :)
