A cam's the ticket. I have an xr and it rocks. Try the Gt and giv a report. It's supposed to be a bit more aggressive.

Most of us area trying to decide between the GT Cam or the XR cam, i was thinking of the Web Cam drop in, after looking at there site i noticed that the drop in cam for the 400ex was also the same for the xr400 so this means there drop in cam has more duration and lift than the stock XR cam so i think i might just go and purchase the 450/451 Web Cam as a drop in, i dont know how this rates aginst the GT cam? Anyone using the Web Cam?

Web Cam's site says that with their 450/451 or whatever "drop in" cam, "hardwelded rockers highly reccomended," which would not make it a drop in cam right? I think the XR is the way to go for a drop in personally from what i've heard, it's a factory honda part, it came out of another form of the same engine.

GT Thunder did in fact burn to the ground.

I stopped by there last weekend and talked to Nate and Craig the owners. It was sad, I really felt for them.

But they are rebuilding! Nate told me last Sat. that they hope to be back in 3 weeks. They should be bigger and better than ever!

Give them a call and leave a message for Nate if you have any questions.

I'm not sure about availability of any of thier stuff. They lost pretty much everything.

Take a look at the HRC cam by Honda or the XR's only. It works with your stock parts and it's the racing cam for the XR400. I have this cam and it works very well. Adds alot of power to the mid to top end and doesn't take away from the bottom. I also did the 10.8.1 piston at the same time they work awsome together.

But doesn't that HRC cam cost like 300 bucks or more????

Well i was hoping to get my cam on order today, and ive been calling and calling.
I first called Strokerspeed. They wanted $160.
then i called webcam, for the 55-891 cam which is both the xr number and ex they wanted $160.
Now for the fun one.
I called XRs Only.
FIrs they said that the HRC cam was like $379. I said i wanted the copy cam of the HRC. They said they didnt make one. I told them im looking rite on the internet site that says they do. So the phone was muffled for abouta minute and then he came back and said what the cam would do.
Too shakey for me. Either way, they said it was $179.
What i wonder is if the cam that Marcums sells is the same as the XR. His site lists the WB all around and track cam.
Bottom line is, i refuse to pay the price for an HRC cam. This xrs only site kinda rubbed me the wrong way with there service.
So far Webcam and Strokerspeed has the best service.
Any other suggestions.

The HRC cost $277 from Service Honda. I feel that it's worth the price. Even though it's more than the other cams. For one it works with other parts so you don't have to buy the cam and do other thing just to use it. ( hardface the rockers) i know you don't have to do this with the XR cam but i would think the HRC would give you more performace since it is the racing cam from Honda for the XR engine.
