Hello all, as some already know, i am from portugal, and already posted some stuff on powertrain and how-to's.

Heres the thing:

One guy as an 05/2004 trx 450r bone stock and he wants to sell it.

As some ppl here dont like kikx start and portugal is in crises, he is stuck with it as he cannot sell it so easly.

So, he proposed me to trade his bike for mine (sportrax trx 400 ex 06/2004 - 2003 model) plus €400 like $600 us dollar. He can sell mine quicker just because of the starter and stuff.

(edited because what i mean is, my bike plus 600 dolls for his bike, i pay him not him to me.... ;) i wish... lol)

The thing is, is it worth it? No reverse as mine, but now with no electric start? is it hard to put it to work? never ridden a 450r before. did ridden an lt-r though.

Whats the major diferences between them and, should i go for it?

Opinions are MORE than WELCOME.
gona post pics of his and mine so you guys can compare. mine is brand new, no rust at all... great shape.

his bike has a little rust on both bottom a arms but nothing serious.
As i said, look to the pics and go ahead with advices.

Really dunno what to do...

Barelly do mx, ist more to trail, small rivers, big hills, and some wheelies, slides.... anyways, the usual stuff to relax and get away from the real world...but i do like speed and handeling.

Thank you all...

By the way, i need advices asap, as the guy want to trade it reall soon, like, i have to tell him tomorrow if i want it or not.

Also, will my nerf(from trx 400ex) fit the 450R? and uni filter?
Once again, THANK YOU ALL!!!

This will probably be the only case in the world where you will find someone willing to give a 450R and cash for a 400ex:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

he is not paying me... i am paying him....

the question is, they are same year, and mine is a moth younger, but model one year older.

both second handed.

is it worth paying 600 dollars to go from, 400 to 450? i know, more power (dont know how much more) less weight, and better shocks.

anything else?

a starter is really confortable for me, as i do trial with it, for example.....

thank you

i would say that there is more to the story, it would be hard to find a trade like this even at the 400 and 600. if its a legit deal he has papers, look the bike over closely. if its on the up and up then you shouldent even be asking just do it. i have both a 01ex and a 07er and the r is a far better bike as far as im concerned.
good luck and hope it works out.

the bike is mint, not only on pictures....

the thing is, my 400 is less used than his.

for ex., his seat cover is already fadding a little, mines is brand new. as its stored in the garage.

mine doesnt have any rust, his does, but little...

engine seems to run ok....

thats why i am asking you guys......

what can i look other then bearings etc?

how can i check the engine for ex. stuff like that....

HELP.... lol

really dont know what to do....

as my bike is NEW NEW, and his, we can see that is a little used.

What are you going to be using the bike for?

The 450r has more performance stock and way more potential if you're the type to modify. But the 400ex has the edge in reliability and ease of maintanence.

well, like i said up there, i am planning on use it like i do with the 400ex.

not planning to modify.

stock would be enough.

i do use the bike to climb hills, trail, some rivers, nothing more special.

of course, i like to weelie and doughnut, tail fish.... lol stuff like that....

no mx dough....

so, is it better to keep mine then???

the things are pretty much bullet proof and real low maintence
plus they are real easy to kick and there arent any bearings except in the motor. i say go for it.
but tell him you will but make sure you take it for a ride first and see how well it runs and if he says no tell him good luck selling it

is it normal not to have a key for it?

and were is it suposed to have the light switch?

the guy replaced the position to under the hood.

and he says that he has the power off hidden....????

A LOT OF PEOPLE HIDE THEIR KEY UNDER THEIR HOOD OR IN CERTAIN AREAS. AS FOR THE POWER SWITCH HE'LL HAVE TO WALK YOU THROUGH THE WHOLE THING. HONESTLY FOR TRAIL RIDING ID TAKE THAT 600 DOLLARS AND BUY AFTER MARKET SHOCKS AND KEEP MY 400. I HAVE ONE AND HAVENT HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT MECHANICLY THAT IS. NOT ONLY THAT BUT 400'S HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL. MINE WILL KEEP UP WITH A STOCK 450 AND YOU SAID YOU DONT WANT TO MX SO WHY GO FROM BEAUTY TO BEAST LOL... THATS MY OPINION BUT ITS TOTALY UP TO YOU BRO. EITHER WAY GOOD LUCK HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING WORKS OUT.

Buy a pair of TRX450r or YFZ450 shocks of this site or EBAY

its not worth it....

only if i go there....

otherwise, i would have to pay customs here in portugal... that would increase the price in at least 50% :ermm: :ermm: :ermm:

I used to have a 400ex, I defintely liked it for the woods. When I ride the wide open areas I think my 450r has alot more to offer. I guess it all depends on what terrain you ride most. Do you get into 5th wide open alot?

crazyquader

i sure do, lots of times, especialy when i am getting to the woods on the road, and there, we have big straight paths so i go in 5th wide open alot....

in portuguese is "sim senhor" ;)

thanks guys, any more advices or ideas??

i mean, is it really worht it not having the electrical start? i traded my last one for this one , so i went from reverse and e.s. to only e.s. and now i am giving up from e.s. also....

is it worth kicking to start the 450???

or should i stay with this one and just push the button???

thanks
