Any mods for a 87' 250x????

Besides pipe and filter are there any mods out there for the 250x, the quad is stock right now, fill me in on any options out there such as big bore kits, cams and high comp pistons. Thanks

Cool.. looks like HotCams finally started making cam shafts for the 300ex/250x. WEB also makes cams.

There's TONS of options for the 250x/300ex.

i'll let u in on a few things i came across over the years i use to have a 87 250X just sold it for 1800 had about 3800 in it lol....so i wouldn't go nuts with it....but if u plan on keeping it for a few years u can

go on ebay and get yourself a set of 250R a-arms they will give u + 2 and will bolt right up while your at it get a shock relocater on ebay too and pick up a set of 400ex or 250R shocks if u wanna do even more to the front end u can use 250R spindals and breaks this will give u better breaking and u will be able to use any honda front rim cause the 87 250X has an odd size front rim so this is a good fix for that thats some money saving tips u can use it cost me i think around 350...400$ somewhere arond there for everything and the 250r/400ex shocks will give u a better ride

also u can use a 400ex carb it will give u a better throttle responce cause the stock carb on the 250X sucks

I don't believe the HotCams cam has mush lift. The WebCam and White Brothers companies have 4 or 5 each to choose from for your riding needs.

Also I would go with 450R front shocks not 250R or 400EX.

If it were me, I would start off with a good high compression piston with a fresh bore.

There are tons of options...

u can use the 450R shocks also 250X ......but i think it's a waste to put a cam and bore out a 250X motor....maybe 10years ago yes but not now...i would sell it and get something newer befor u dump a crap load of money into a 250X ....trust me on this.....

like i said i just sold mine for 1800....and i had well over 3000 in it
PC and everything new piston ...even had an extra motor that i gave the person.....and the extra motor was rebuilt.....so if u are goin to dump ll that money into it...just remember u are not goin to get your money back when u sell it

A buddy of mine just bought it for $600, it's all stock and runs great. He doesn't make a ton of money so I'm trying to help him out where I can so he can keep up with us. I've got a stock 400ex carb from my quad I could put in it, but I think he'd be better off getting the airflow un restricted by getting an exhaust and filter before the carb, will that much bigger of a carb have too much airflow and can it be useful on a stock motor and any Idea of where the jetting would be at?

well if i remember i think it was a 130 main.....try starting around there may need to go up or down a size or 2
