View Full Version : Air Box Lid problem.

i have read alot of post on here saying if you take the lid off the air box you will see a lil more power, so i took it off went to ride and it ran like pooh. does anyone know why?

im assuming jetting problems idk really but thats what id say.

thats definatly the reason. when you take the lid off it is less air restrictive and sucks more air in, yet the same amount of fuel is being provided giving it a lean mixture. bump up your main jet a couple sizes and go from there....i wouldnt just rejet my carb for taking the lid off....i'd go buy a full exhaust system and a good air filter then rejet....best gains this way

well rejetting is cheaper than doin a exhaust and filter. so maybe i'll rejett and then go from there.

Oh ya. You need to rejet. Start at a 150 - 155 main depending on elevation and go up. You'll also need to adjust your air screw a little too. Greatest 5 dollar mod you'll ever do.
