oil splatters you really have to scrub with some sort of a brush, and for the polish get mothers it shines it up really good

I had brillo pads that had a pink soap built into the middle of them that activated when it hit water. The soap was almost impossible to get off your hands because it was so thick. This is perfect for a lube between the aluminum and the steel wool. The soap clings to the aluminum and it leaves no scratches like some other lubes. Just don't use WD-40 like the people over at thumpertalk obsess about. It is too thin and practically wears off after one stroke of the steel wool. It also leaves scratches and since it is oily, you can't get the best shine out of the aluminum. The thick soap makes it so your steel wool BARELY touches the metal and when you wash it off, the shine is amazing.
