duct tape on the axle nut is a racing trick it keeps it from coming loose

This is true, the only reason axle nuts come loose on people is the small jam nut vibrates loose allowing the axle nut to turn as well. Duct tape/electrical tape is a good fix, but the stock axle nut is still a piece of junk. Mine stripped out on me as I was trying to replace a broken swinger. I got lucky when the threads finally caught but I promptly threw that thing in the trash.

I replaced it with a RAD loc for around $40 and I am much happier. Just tighten it by hand till there is no play in the axle, then tighten the two allen pinch bolts. Hasn't budged since the first time I installed it.

(sorry for the dirty quad lol)
