ok so im looking at motor parts and theyre pretty cheap for the most part so lets just say i got an athaena 430 kit valves and hot cams both sides am i lookin at a pretty big jump in hp? and is it reccomended to get that kind of work done or just do it with a manual?? im just asking cause a dude that works at a local shop says that he added stage 1 hot cams to his lt400 and it made it slower than his wifes stock lt400

Add DRZe valve springs to that list for reliability. You'll also need a carb to feed that beast. I assume you already have a full exhaust and high flow filter? You can expect to see around 60-70% gain over stock!

hey you might check out lukes racing, they have the athena kit along with several other kits to choose from that will give you some BIG gains!

Lukes sells a replated stock cylinder bored to 94mm. Its not exactly the athena and does not have the larger water jacket. Not saying that its anything bad! I'm sure its still a hell of a kit.

i went with the wiseco 440 sleeve kit also have hotcams(inandout) 12 1/2:1 high compression piston, did heavy duty cam chain, barrnett heavy duty clutch and basket, race fuel. runs great no problem with the 450's haaaaaaaaaaaaa

good luck brother
also does the carb make that much of a difference?

does his lose in the over all, meaning that does his loose when they race wound out 5th gear? or does his loose on the take off?

the gearing is a huge factor! i run 14front 41 rear from sidewinder, they told me with the motor work and the tire size that is the right combo $400 later also with a chain and 6 cans of lube.

i have the same set up 440 with hot cams, dont get me wrong its quick but to much work than its worth my oppi9nion just leave it stock my buddy has one 2 days older than mine and he has never had a problem with his. in my oppinion dont go into the engine re-gear it and put tires on it leave it alone in my oppinion

I built my 434 in a weekend, for a 70% increase in HP over stock? I'd say thats worth it. The thing has been rock solid once I got the stock valves out of there.
