ok so i cant make up my friggen mind. i have a warrior now with the baisic bolt on stuff and i need more power and better suspension. i do alot of trail riding but im getting into jumping and freeride sort of stuff. so i was thinking of getting a 400ex and doing a rebuild but if i do that the cost will pretty much be equal to a 450r. should i waste my time and money on a rebuild and have a bad*** 400 or just get a 450r. im just afraid of getting a 450r an it having to much power for me on the trails. and its not like im doing huge jumps and racing, im still learning. lol so what do you guys think i should do?

Definately get a 450r. I just moved from an long travel mx 400ex to a similarly set up 450r. They difference is amazing. You can pick up slightly modded 05's now for really cheap. Just keep an eye out for a nice one.

yea i went up from a trx90.. yea its sad but i got a 400ex and now i wish i would have saved the money for a 450R the 400ex is underpowerd and by the time and money u put into it to make it good youd be better of with a 450R

theres nothing wrong with a 400ex.
ride both, you decide
i have both...
for the trails i ride...the 400ex is better since i ride with some slower ute bikes most of the time...the 450r wants to rev high adn go fast, the 400ex can be ridden at a slower pace if need be...both are very capable of what you want...the ex for trails, the r for the wide open running

if u got the money i would go ahead and get a 450. u dont want to get the 400 and find out u want more power and suspension.

well i really like the 450r and really want it but im kinda intimitated by it for the tight trails but i guess i just need to go try one before i say that. i found a pre-owned 05 450r at a dealer with an hmf pipe, new grab bar, and itp tires for $4,795. is that a good price?
