could be a wire (or something) hitting the cooling fan blades

could be the hard drive on it's way out. Or it could be a cooling fan bearing wearing out

It probably is my hard drive. I have two dells and the other one already needed a new hard drive. Then I have this Compaq thats like two years older then my dells and I works fine? Maybe I shouldn't buy a dell again.

What is a way to tell if its the hard drive?

Take the panel off the side of the computer while it is running and trying to narrow down where the noise is coming from, 90% sure it will be your HDD. Here are some tips.....

I found out the problem. Aparently my floppy drive died. I just unplugged it and it works fine! :D
