How would a stock stem hold up to paint. I know you guys say it will depend on Prep, just say its prepped...pretty damn good! I was thinking some kind of metallic chrome or red color

It really isn't going to see near the abuse of the frame or a-arms, probably will hold up fairly well

I think it would be fine. Nothing ever touches it so it wouldn't chip.

Im going to polish mine.

just paint stripper.

Its steel but im still going to sand it until its polished. Then maybe spray some clear coat on it so it doesn't rust.

Stem is steel. You can still strip it with that rattle can aircraft paint remover stuff.

It will rust over time though, even with a coat or two of clear.

Just sand it, wash it good, paint it with metallic colored paint, let it dry and spray some clear on it if you want. Like everyone said nothing hits it often so it should last a while. Post pics after your done.

POLISH AND CLEAR COAT IT!!!

Heres my polished "steel" A-arm. 100% the same color as chrome if not better.

Puddy scraper and then sanded it. Used a dremel by the welds.
