Yes... another jetting problem which i've had since I bought my 450R brand new back in August. I'm not a carb expert (but I get the concept) because if I was I wouldn't be here trying to get help from you wonderful people:p . My problem is, when you smash the throttle, it cuts out and almost dies. I switched to a 45 pilot jet and it still does it. It was buggin the crap out of me yesterday when we were at a local MX track and everytime I landed a jump, it would cut out also. My current settings are 122 main, 45 pilot, 75 leak jet, no core in the exhaust and the airbox lid on. It still runs the same with the core back in and it doesn't backfire when you let off the throttle, however, if I am rolling to a stop with the clutch pulled in and hit the kill button, it shuts off and when if I try starting it with the kill button off, it will backfire really loud (don't know if that means much). I'm at around 600 feet and the tempatures around 20-45 degree's. I did some searching around but couldn't really come up with much so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like an air leak somewhere on that carb.

that leak jet size seems huge. my yfz has a 40 or 35. its not a honda, but i would think to quads with the same cc and same carb would have simliar jetting at least

122 main ? Holy crap .... i would take the airbox lid off and put atleast like a 175 in there and see what that does.

Exactly - put in a 55 or a 50 leak jet

He still has the lid on and the stock exhaust. Maybe a bump up to something like a 125 main and move the clip down one notch. Try it.

Thats not the leak jet your looking at. Thats the starter jet. The leak jet is in the bowl of the carb and is probably a smaller size. It sounds like your accelerator pump needs timed or adjusted. Unless you changed your needle the stock 06 needle is not adjustable. Buy the CRF450R needle from Honda.

Yes, it did it with stock jetting. I'm gonna go buy some jets and see what helps and what won't...

I had the exact same problem for about 3 months and it drove me nuts (cutting out on full throttle). I had a aftermarket tusk gas cap and vent hose. I put the stock gas cap and a free-flo vent hose on and it ran perfect and still does.

Not saying that a warrior is the same thing but when that happend to me on my 01 warrior it was just the fact of the air box leaking and then i go a new air box and then the car and the air intake wasnt seeted right ?!? ?!

the stock leak jet size on the 06/07 450r's is a 70..and is way too big...go down to a 42 and the bog, or cutting out will go away...

Your main is way to lean. I have tryed both a 45 and a 48 on the pilot and both were to rich and I found the stock 42 to be near perfect. I'd ditch the lid and put a 170 main in and i'll bet you will find it a hole different machine. If it's backfiring thats a sign of being to lean.I would also replace the stock needle with a HRC or the CRF450 needle. My likes the 3rd clip.
Ditch the lid!

A 122 main for a 450r fully piped seems way to low. I was running a 165 main with my lid on, on my 2007. You are giving away a lot of power right now. Switching to a HRC needle but not increasing the main jet isnt going to do much good, the jet can only let so much fuel through........

I just got back from St. Joe Park in Missouri and had a 160 main with no lid and it felt like a completely different quad. I'm gonna keep screwin around with it until I find it to be just perfect.
