You'll die. It's located under the center peice of the front fender, kinda behind the light, on the cross bar on the frame. If you run without it, and hold throttle wide open you'll over-revv and the rod will probably break off and go through the case, and attack your foot.

Is the 'rev limiter' on the 250ex the same as the cdi?

Isn't the CDI the rev-limiter, rev-box etc..?

That's what I thought....

So how is removing it going to cause the the motor to over rev when it wont even run?

Stock limit is 6850 rpms.
I beleive th eothers are correct in the fact that the CDI contains the rev limit circuitry.

If you remove it.. your spark plug wont spark, so your rev limit will be 800rpms.. or whatever your e-start will turn the motor over at. ;)

This is the same bike my wife has. I just put an HMF pipe, re-jetted and a UNI air filter. I was wondering if it is worth getting an aftermarket CDI box for this bike. Does anyone out there have one? Would you suggest buying one - I mean is it worth the money?

These are the ones I have found:
Big Gun (http://www.biggunexhaust.com/product_info.php?cPath=198_199_234&products_id=654)
AMR (http://www.amrracing.com/products.php?cat=10)
Procom (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Procom-Rev-Box-CDI-Ignition-Honda-TRX-250EX-250-Recon_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43976QQitemZ12009 4399810QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I would say no.

You could have the stock box modified to increase the stock limit a little bit.
